    blower/brush & microfibre cloth.

blower & brush first, if spotted any smudge area, then use an optical fiber cloth. Never use fluid.

will the lens cleaning fluid destroy the coating?
what exactly is the proper way to clean your lens?

read threads so far, not using fluid cleaning solution seems to be the views. why? after all, kodak has produced lens cleaning solution and lens 'tissue' for a long time.

Some types of fluid can destroy the coating on certain filters, that's why. I haven't used fluid on my filters so far coz I'd rather not risk it, heh.

For your information, when you use the liquid cleaner,
must be sure that it is pure isopropanol (pro-2-panol).

It is a light enuff solvent that is good enuff for microscope lenses.
(at least I cleaned mine with it)

Anyway, the lens element is always protected by a filter. We only clean the filter most of the time. That's an interesting finding for me though.
The same for me. I try not to touch the lens. Always blowing and using the lens pen on filters instead.

the best and most cost effective way... is to use balloon....

    direction:

    1) blow in to about 3 litre of clean air

    2) carefully place a straw on the tip without letting the air out

    3) place the tip of the straw on where to cleanse, and squeeze off the air

    4) 3 litre of air last approximately 7-10 secs, after use recharge is necessary

ps. doing so guarantee to cause damage sensitive components of your camera...

My tee-shirt, or the edges of my shorts! LOL! OK, just kidding.

3M micro-fiber cloth. Dry. If there are smudges, I use condensed breath to mositen it. Haven't had a grease smear or stain ever.
