    Default Recommendation for Tripod/Monopod

Hi guys, as stated in the title I really need an education on this topic. I'm currently using a sony nex 5 and I'm torn whether to purchase a tripod or a monopod. My main aim for the purchase is to stabilize video shooting and not long exposures. So if you guys can assist me in this or recommend me a product that would be great. Thanks!

Monopod will not work well for video...

The one dingaroo suggested is good, but this is better:

Or if you want performance, this is the one to go for:

    Huh ?...what issit ?!?

...might as well just hold your Nex in your hands.

I suggest a proper tripod if you want really good videos and you don't have to move around.

hahah no actually I tried with hands but if you want flexibility and stability I think monopod/tripod is rather compulsory. That's why I thought what dingaroo recommended was good, I always move around with my camera rather than let it stay at one spot.

Once you use a tripod, you can forget about flexibility. Your camera is practically grounded to that one spot. Hard to move around.

Once you use a monopod, you pretty much fixed your height. You cannot lower your camera to shoot different angles. It also restricts you from move your camera level up or down quickly.

Remember shooting video and still photos are different.
