Bro.. it doesn't matter what camera you use. All DSLR can shoot nice photo. Its more of how well you know your own equipment and its limitation.

the SB900 came with a flat stand (which allow you to put your flash on the floor too or mount on the tripod) . . . alternatively you may purchase the transmitter and the receiver which allows you to mount the flash as well as an umbrella too.

That is how i ultilise my 'tripod' instead of getting a light stand.

Anyway, regarding the D5000 for wedding thread, if the TS still needs to ask something like those questions, something is glaringly obvious. 3 words only. He's/she's not ready. I think should not advise him/her liao. He/her doesn't really understand the pieces of advices given to him/her.

is this your first post in this thread? welcome!

The freebie tripod a bit too flimsy-looking to use as a light-stand (w umbrella and all the other accessories) leh... I look at it, my heart cannot take it hahahaha.

wah interesting. Never saw this adapter before.
As weegk stated, the SB600 and above come with a standing plate with a pseudo-hotshoe for you to slot in the flash unit. The plate also has a screw slot below. I attach it to the quick-release plate from my freebie tripod. So then my SB600 becomes a remote slave, controlled by my pop-up flash.

depends what you shoot la. For me, I have no need at the moment for anything more powerful than Sb600...If I start playing with softboxes, etc, then maybe I'll find SB600 not powerful enough...

but then if I'm gonna start buying softboxes, probably that means I'll get some kind of strobe....

I rather you get SB 900 if you got the budget covers wide 17-200mm zoom range.

While SB 700 covers wide 24-120 mm zoom range

i can't remember whether this is my first post lor . . .
Thanks for welcoming me here. Hope i can be poisoned here too.

instead of throwing it away, i do good with it. Anyway i hang my heavy bag on the hook so that when i put on the umbrella, it will not 'fly' away.

Ya, i immediately change the tripod after using it for the first time . . . my camera keep tilting forward . . . and wanted to throw it away. But i presume all things have its use, so i keep it.

don't need to cover so wide wan la...
Nobody would shoot with a UWA and have the subjects (needing flash illumination) covering the entire frame from left to right.
The distortion would be damn gross...

Usually if I shoot group photos with my UWA @12mm, the subjects only covering left 1/3 to right 1/3 line (effectively like 20+ mm), then with bounce card and stuff, easy to get even coverage.
