DD123 or ZeroCool.. For Tokina.. If I were to take a photo of the landscape together with humans.. At what length and F stop would be consider the best?

I realized my photo is kinda of soft even though its on a tripod.. I will upload the photos tonight to let you all see..
In the mean time, anybody able to give some possible answer or problem to it? o.0

BTW.. I rented it last Sat to try it out..

Ooops.. I shall add on.. Its the human that looks soft to me. The focus is on the human.
    I'm using F11 and aperture speed of 1/60 - 1/100 range..

Urm...humans may move around a bit if you set the aperture too small? If everyone's standing and there are winds blowing...tendency for them to move a bit? Unless they are sitting down or leaning against the ledge? What about the areas where they are standing? Sharp or not? Area arount the focus plane?

Or maybe you've set the hyperfocal too far away?

One last explanation could be the lens might not have been calibrated or off calibration...

hmm.. no wind.. and humans are leaning behind a solid barricade. but then at the speed of 1/60 - 1/100 range. it should not be an issue at all. The Mary Go round ride that is behind the humans are sharp.. the humans are kinda of soft to me.. lolx.. I'm using flash some more..

Now, how did you focus? Manual? Focused on the humans...Lens could have back focusing issue (something like that)?

Must see the photo to have better idea, as well as the relevant EXIF data and where you focused.

If the merry go round is sharp, and your intended subject is blur, i suspect a focusing error. i.e. you somehow focused on the merry go round instead of exactly on the subject.

only need to bring some $$ to share the costs

oh you mean for your camera?
Just the basic camera + lens(es) will do.
Other stuff like triggers for the lights should be provided at the studio. But of course if you have, no harm to bring along.

From what I noticed at the free studio session I attended some months back, most shots were at around 85-100mm (35mm equiv) focal length, and around f/5.6 - f/8 kinda range. So even kit lens should excel in this regard.
    Exploring! :)
