    Hi,

a bit OT, what are the scenes or subjects that we need to use 16sec exposure? been using my uzi and have only use up to 4sec(night shots) which does not have any hotpixels. sure i will get hotpixels on 16sec though.

    thanks

Post-processing involves converting to JPEG at medium compression rate.

    Oh I see....sorrie....misunderstood ur qn.

If u look carefully at the 2nd pix u can see that the hot pixels that appear in it appear in the 1st pix as well, but in the 3rd pix, the hot pixels are filtered off (some CCD noise remain though...).

C700uz and C2100uz is both ok lar for normal consumer. Good camera to start playing with if you are into photography. Quality wise(on the picture), it's not as good as those from canon. But in terms of functions, c700uz and 2100uz win them for sure.

Yup....I gotta admit that's a big probelm with lossy graphics compression methods like JPEG...cos every time you edit and save a file a bit (sometimes a lot...) of details are lost.

Using TIFF is much better but the file size is too big for practical use...a 128MB SM card can only take abt 22 1600x1200 TIFF pix.

In the above case, the TIFF was first processed by BlackFrame NR (which according to the proggie docs, will blur the pix a bit), and saving the 'after' pix in TIFF...then converted this pix to high compression rate JPEG (from 5MB to 100+KB!!!).....some details is definitely gonna be lost this way.

Tiff is too large. The amount of buffer on our camera will take a long time to write to the SM. If we are to take action shots, it will be very hard. 128mb -> 22 pic is pretty low.

i thought for function the pro90 will be better than the 2100 and 700 wat

anyway how much is the 700? much cheaper than the 2100uz?

If you compare functions -> price , olympus win.

If you compare function alone, of course a camera that cost nearly 2 x the price will have a better amount of functions.

The only point to note is that pro90is has terrible shuttle lag.

Canon Pro 90 over Olympus C2100
    • Slightly bigger mega pixel (2.6 megapixel)
    • Swivel and better LCD
    • Hot shoe support external ETTL flash
    • Zero hotpixel for long exposure (up to 8sec)
    • Good colours, stronger and more accurate than most, slightly cool skin tones
    • ISO 50 give lesser noise
    • Support RAW file format
    • Cheaper Storage Media (CF and Micro-drive)

if you think the above features are not important to you , you can forget about getting a Pro 90

I usually reserve TIFF for portraits whereby I wanna capture every single details.....but the writing to the SM card takes forever man!!!

At 5.6MB per shot....128MB can only make 22 pix.

That's why cannot compare, not fair since the features are different....the Canon has more high-end features, but you must be willing to pay a price to get these.
