Postpone the games by 6 months, perhaps then the venue maybe ready and fairly presentable.
Going now is just plain silly and unwise !

Even when they are ready, SECURITY is still a BIG QUESTION MARK ? ? ?

Remember one of our citizen was killed there during the Mumbai massacre !
I hope the gahmen will think THRICE before sending our sportsmen over there ..........

I saw an Indian guy comment in newspaper - "India is not a poor country, it is poorly run country"

There are corruption everywhere at every level

20% of the wheat are eaten by rats while many people starve

The building collapse because most of the money for buying the building materials are in corrupted politician's pockets.

The contractor need to pay huge sum of money to corrupted officials to get the contract and they have little money to buy good material.

I live in India, having been brought up in Singapore and studied in Los Angeles..

    my 2 cents:

You should really live in this country to see what it's like to live here. About one third of all Indians are corrupt. Worst are the cops and politicians. They will do anything and everything to extort money from the poor. Luckily, I was born into a fairly wealthy family. I can't imagine what it's like for the poor. Every day is a struggle for them. In this country, money runs the show. The rich are extremely wealthy and the poor are extremely poor and the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. So... it's not surprising that the commonwealth games are a failure because of the political system. In my opinion they should have never awarded India to host the CWG autonomously. The committee should have monitored it all the way, knowing the kind of corruption that exists here.

Just go to Mumbai.. One side of the street you'll see houses worth tens of millions of dollars, and once you turn around the corner there'll be roadside tents with beggars living in them.

Bottom line.. India is just complicated. It's the world in microcosm.

NEW DELHI - SNAKE catchers in New Delhi said on Monday they had removed an adult cobra from the newly built tennis centre that will be used next week for the Commonwealth Games.

'We were requested by the Games authorities to help them rescue a snake spotted in the R.K. Khanna tennis stadium,' Kartick Satyanarayan, head of animal conservation group Wildlife SOS India, told AFP.

On Sunday, South African High Commissioner Harris Mbulelo Mejeke also complained about a snake found in one of the rooms of his country's athletes in the Games village.

'If snakes are found we can't ask our teams to stay there,' Mejeke told reporters before entering the village. 'That was a threat to the lives of our athletes. Very disappointing,' he added.

The Games are mired in a range of problems from unfinished athletes' accommodation to security fears, an outbreak of mosquito-borne dengue fever and doubts about public safety after the collapse of a new footbridge last week.

Delhi authorities said last Friday they had also begun rounding up stray dogs that have been spotted in a number of venues for the Games, which begin on Sunday. -- AFP.

This is a sporting event. Not a war. Why put the athletes' personal safety at risk?

Act hero lo if you wanna stay there. Snakes everywhere! Dirty water.. I think it will leads to sickness? Sorry lor. I would never risk my sportman life in there. The athletes still want their family, and they still wanna play sports!

Snakes, collapsing beds and some of the walls are still smeared with human faeces. Things are improving but not fast enough I say.

The Singapore authorities gave the green light for the athletes to go.

It is easy to say "GO" because if anything happen, it will fall on the athletes and not them.

So it is only fair for these decision makers to go together with the athletes and see for themselves first hand what the venue and environment are like there.

Walk the talk ..... don't just talk !

The issue is India is a growing power and we seriously do not want to piss them off by doing a no show.
Who says politics and sports don't mix?
