i remember many years ago when I was buying appliances for home and
there was this brand that said "Made in Japan".... i asked the salesman if that was true and his reply was parts made in Japan but assembled in Thailand..... i am not too sure if this is going to give you any discomfort but it is definitely worth thinking about |

this is logicatis term.
Made in "xxx' is depend where the finial product ship out from. Like my ex-company (I don't name who), the whole assembly is done in Malaysia or other cheap labour country. They ship the whole product w/o box or package to Singapore. Then Singapore do the packaging and box it out and ship.. so.. made in Singapore... ![]() |

Canon has production plants in many part of the world. They even have one at malaysia for many years. Nowaday, due to price competition, sub-contracting or production out of Japan is the only way to keep price down there is no more 100% "Made in Japan". They can also buy the OEM part from Kyocera, Sharp, NEC,......
So it may state "Made in Japan" but it actually come from anyway. The final assembly is done in Japan and with the QC check too! As long as it performace as per the spec, who care whether it's "white cat" or "black cat"..... My 2 cents. Cheers. |

Probably whats happening here is that Canon got XXX country plant to do most of the basic assembly and then Japanese main plant do the final packaging in Japan.
Why its this way...may be Cut cost, safe guard technology, or market the "made in japan" label..not sure which one is it. ![]() |
