Heheee, 1st one NOT Common Rose. It's a female Common Mormon.
A Common Rose has a red head; the upper half of the abdomen is black, whereas the lower portion is red. ![]() You can see it clearly from my avatar. |

Amongst the few of you, all the ID's have been nailed. The characteristics of the Common Rose have been pointed out - red body, red head/collar and brighter red spots. The female Common Mormon mimics the Common Rose for 'protection' from predators, as the Common Rose is distasteful to birds that try to eat them. The other difficult one is the Lance Sergeant, and skyflash has got that right. |

Hi Papilio, Skyflash & Macross,
Thanks for ID and pointing out the Common Rose mimic. Was wondering why 2 male Common Mormons were frantically seducing the mimic. Wrt Hotlinks: What is the right way to link it with Pbase? Skyflash did you check the properties of the link and go direct to Pbase? Thanks all once again. ![]() |
