Default CF Card Data Corrupted, Help!

Hi all,

I inserted a CF card into a friend's DSLR before downloading the shots which were already on it. Now almost 3 quarters of the files that were there are corrupt and unreadable.

Is there any way to recover that data or is my day's worth of shooting wasted? It is a Sandisk Ultra II card, used on a 10D.

Please help!

Don't worry, here's help. This software, Image Rescue Version 1 (IR 1), comes free with the purchase of a Lexar CF card of 256MB and above. With the IR 1, u can go to the Lexar website to upgrade it to the IR ver 2. U don't have to buy a Lexar card just to have the software. I found a thread posted by a kind soul who accidentally deleted the IR1 software from his new Lexar card and managed to get a speak to a guy from Lexar who was also kind enough to post the link for the free copy of the IR1. Here it is. Hope this will help u in your recovery. Good luck.

Thanks!

I did another search and found a wonderful piece of software called Photorescue, available at www.datarescue.com. It's idiot proof and even managed to recover data on the card I didn't know I had!

Go check it out.

I believe IR is only useable on Lexar cards using its special cardreader. At least the copy that came bundled with Lexar Pro cards only works with Lexar cards.

I don't think so. Although I have no far had not needed to do any recovery (touch wood), but I did a test to recover a few pictures which I deleted on a non-Lexar card to see if it work. It worked! My copy of the IR1, which I later upgraded it online to IR2, came with my purchase of a 40X 512MB card.
