    I remember in those days they pressed our face against a photocopy machine and made a print of our faces to use it as ID.

    Basically you faceplant into a mould very much like that you would do for teeth braces and they heat it up to solidify it, and that is glued to a huge cardboard with your name.

    They were using Thumb prints (even on some legal documents thumb prints have more value then picture or signature ).
