hey guys
for the ones who own this lens, once you shoot a picture, there is a period of time where the motor continues to run.....a sound that goes zzz-zzz-zzz. do you guys experience a sound of loud sound that goes "clack" when the motor shuts off? Just wondering Thanks all wab |

this is a note for Canon IS lenses, may not be applicable to Nikon VR lenses - wait for the IS to stop before switching to OFF on the lens itself, otherwise there may be possible damage.

Hi Wab,
It's normal. From what I gather, I think the zzz-zzz sound is the sound of gyroscopes. Click or clack sound probably the sounds of the electro-magnets trying to adjust the lens. Sometimes you may even see the picture on the LCD jump. According to Nikon all of above normal. Whilst we are on topic of VR, can anybody share experience about the 2 VR modes, VR Normal and Active. Which on do you get better results with.

Its good practise to switch off the cam before removing any lens, much less a VR lens with electronics inside driven by the camera. Think of it as shutting off your comp while the CD drive is running.
