i mean.. there still remains chinese medicine elements that cannot be explained by western science. i.e. the concept of meredians, qi, yin yang and all that but it doesnt mean its not effective.
frankly speaking, i don't believe we can "proof" such concepts even if we try one million years! why? because in science, we only believe in the 5 senses, we must be able to either see it, hear it, taste it, touch it, smell it, and then we are satisfied that "yes it is there"... but of course i know many scientific proof are based on inference... not direct perception...

perhaps we can only proof such things using inference... one can never see qi.. because it is formless...

i always believe that people in the olden days are more developed internally.. hence they can know alot of things without depending on devices, technology etc...

I believe TCM do work. Difference between TCM and Western medicine is that with TCM you need lots of time and patience for treatment to take effect. Western medicine is more instantaneous.

Yes quite true becos western medicine in most cases deal with the symptoms of the condition, whereas TCM's philosophy is based on nurturing the balance of one's health which requires time.

Well, the way you put it give the impression that you have doubts in TCM.

Nevertheless, lets heard out from the rest on their opinion on TCM and western medicine.

i'm a scientist, biologist, and such things doesnt seem to make sense to me. anyone believes in TCM?

when would you seek TCM, and when wouldnt you?
I am non Chinese but i believe Chinese medicine was there before even there was any western medicine doctor.
Sometime back i had caught for 1 whole good month, i almost went to a number of doctors including a specialist and burned almost 2k on all medication with a lot of antibiotics.
At end i only get cured by TCM .
But don't take my word and don't go to TCM when you brake your bones (i will rather go to a hospital for X-RAY and plaster).

previously i had a cough that wont go off for 1 year plus. Went go SGH to see several specialists but it still cant be cured. Went to TCM and took about one week of medication and my cough is gone. I think both have their advantages and serve different purposes.

There are very good TCM doctors.
    Western medicine is good too.
There are fakes and quacks in both branches of medicine. Use your judgement.

That's how old men are found dead in Fuji Hotel in Geylang after drinking such stuff and over-straining themselves. The PRC female gets a fright when the old guy dies halfway in the action.

not true. what we wanna know is how it ticks. if tcm works, why? is there a system that we all can put to the test and get repeated results? can it be documented? could it be analysed?

no one claimed that western medicine is the only science here. i think the plus point is that western medication is easily replicable and u dun have to be a genius to use them. pandadol for headaches, eyedrops for sore eyes. TCM requires slightly more, such as understanding of the meridians and how to give wad type of medication based on pulse. what we dunno is what we fear. someone shld do an in depth chemical analysis and mass test on lab rats and get some results

having doubts is a good thing. have u ever checked the medication that ur western doc gives to u? i do. once i had this medication for back pain, realise it stains ur pee to coke color. if i didnt check it up, i would had thought i had kidney failure

always check the medication. sometimes what doc gives u, some dun need one. i have this lower back pain. doc gave me painkillers, plasters, and bengay. i only took bengay. saved 90 bucks off stuff that i wouldnt use.
