Default more zoom pls..

evening ppl

may i know how can i achieve a zoom range of more than 500mm using a Nikkor 70-300G or other compatible zoom lens..?

if tc were to be use, would there be a degradation in the pic taken?

any recommendation of lens or ways to achieve beside getting a heavy "boozuka" lens to travel around..

thks

1.4x extender - Slight degradation.
2x extender - More degradation.

adding a 1.4x extender to a smaller than F/4 Lens will result in losing AF with the exception of some camera bodies.
adding a 2x extender to a smaller than F/2.8 lens will result in losing AF with the exception of some camera bodies.

But there is a way to AF with the lens by taping the 3 contacts on the extender . However it will not report the correct aperture to the body (if it does in the first place without taping)

that works with Canon, but does it work with nikon?

Anyway you want a light 500mm lens? Get a mirror lens. Otherwise, a lightweight and cheap long telephoto simply does not exist. And remember that a TC magnifies a image as well as all the flaws associated with the original lens. A consumer type zoom would most probably not give you the image you want, unless you don't mind soft images with pronounced chromatic aberration.
