You use your Digital Photo Professional.

Download your photos using EOS Utility, and it will hand over to the DPP.

All these programs are available on the CD ROM that comes with your package ... NEVER READ MANUAL RIGHT?

If you have already installed your software into your computer, then check your default program for opening raw files. If your default viewer cannot read raw files, then change the settings. Either that or you can right click and open with the software, for canon it's DPP, for nikon it's " nikon view " I think, or nikon nx

Have you checked the Canon's website?

There is a software called Canon RAW Codec. Get the latest version.

You should be able to find it yourself, right?

Depends on direction you are shooting. Check the 15-85 lens hood carefully, might not be the petal version. My kit lens hood is just a shallow dish-like hood.

Because the last thing you want .. is more vignetting.

lens hood is shielding stray light hitting the lens. If you aim your lens at the light source, or you can see the light source in your viewfinder, there is no way a lens hood will help to preventing lens flare this way.

The location where i took my pic last night was at the Merlion park, and i was shooting at the esplanade just below the main bridge between the Merlion park and the esplanade.

My photo came out to had flare at the left hand side of my picture due to the street light on the bridge. At first i tot was my Lens dirty, after awhile i tried taking without my UV Filter on. There was not much flare as compared to the previous picture i took.

So i am thinking of purchasing a lens hood to solve this problem.

protecting filter will contribute to lens flare, poor quality or dirty filter will make it worst, usually we remove the protecting filter from the lens for night cityscape photography.

if this street lamp is not in your photo, you can use a black card (about A5 size) to shield your lens, eg, blocking the light shine onto your lens front elements, it will preventing the flare, just need to keep the black card out of the frame.

    hope this help.

O.o icic So for night landscape photo usually photographer will take out their protecting filter to prevent flare.

Hmm another thing wanted to ask is about after i remove my protecting filter from my lens is it not 100% i will not get any flare ??? there will be some flare even though i remove my protecting filter rite?? So this is went the Lens hood come in rite ??

Flare due to light sources in the frame cannot be prevented and no lens hood helps here, unless you recompose to get rid of the light.

For viewing RAW files you don't need any lens hood
Most common lens hoods are either circular or tulip-shaped. Wide angle lenses need tulip to prevent vignetting in the corners. For telephoto you can use circular hoods. Circular hoods come as screw-in type and can be adjusted according focal length, tulip-shaped ones are fixed and might not be very effective on zoom lenses when used for the long end.

you mean for Tulip-shaped hood if mounted onto my 15-85mm lens, it cannot be zoom in to the 85mm range izzit ?? it is fit to 15mm range only. And the above picture posted in #13 is a tulip-shaped lens hoods rite ??
