Well, for those professions who charge, it's a "spoil market" thing; but for the rest of us who are still in the learning stage, or are looking to build a portfoilo, given a chance to participate as an actual day wedding photographer is a good opportunity.

Well the point here is the poster come here to look for FREE photographer. And the issue here is not who charge higher or lower. The intend of the poster is to look for photographer who is willing to shoot for FREE. Isn't it exploiting? I am not blaming the photographer who volunteer to shoot FREE, it is their choice.

Maybe I am sensitive to this but it is just my own opinion. period.

Hi jimtong,

I respect your opinion. I believe a lot of people are looking for a chance to shoot for weddings but how many friends around them wed in a year. Therefore I'm opening this opportunity out to those who wants to gain experience. Of course if someone experienced offers to shoot for free, I will also consider. It's the photographers' choice on whether he/she wants to volunteer his service. I'm sorry to mislead you into thinking of exploiting you all as I have the well intention to opening the chance out to those interested.

Hi all,

Thanks for all your pmed. I have received too many to reply all.

Please don't pm me anymore as I will only consider the existing ones.

Thanks for your offer!

I do not see anything wrong with it, notice he has already a main photographer and this "2nd Photographer" is actually a place where he can give a place to bubbing photographers who needs experiences. Nowadays, whenever someone wanted someone else to take pictures, the main item is "Can you show me your portfolio?" If everyone is looking for portfolio and no one wanted to give a chance to new photographer, where the heck should the portfolio come from?

However, if the person is looking for a free 2nd photographer, and still wanted the free photographer to be highly experienced with mountains of portfolio, that is a different story altogether.

The main catch and problem/issue here are the words used - "anyone interested to offer his/her free services as a 2nd photograher, pls pm me? thanks!"

This can be quite a misunderstooded thing, opening up for learning experiences or looking for people to help you shoot without being paid? Think if you can clarify this point, lots of people will be rather happy too FREE is a four-letter vulgar word in CS.

Btw, I seriously don't mind shooting for you if you require a 2nd one.

ah.. I think I got my point misunderstood. It is the way the poster phrased the sentence that lead to the general impression that she do not want to spend money to engage a photographer but to come to CS to look for free service. That is why I "make noise".

To the poster: Maybe if you phrase your sentence in a nice way without using the word "FREE", would be more appropriate.

Volunteer to shoot free of charge is a personal thing, I have no comment here.

Maybe she have to polish her phrasing a bit, but that does not need she should be condammed when she is trying to give someone a chance to build his/her portfolio.

I think she has already made herself pretty clear, even in the title "2nd photographer" as in backup, as in she already have a paid photographer, just wanted to give someone a chance to build their portfolio. If she do not use "Free" what should she use? "Unpaid", that is even worse, right?

At least she is open in telling she will not be paying for the backup photographer.
