Default CCD Cleaning at Nikon Singapore

Hi there, just wondering, does Nikon clean CCDs of cameras whose 1 year warranty has expired? Is there a charge?

I'm asking cos the last time i cleaned my cam (during warranty), they did not ask to see my warranty card or purchase receipt but just took the cam, cleaned it and returned it to me.

Thanks!

Default Ccd

Let me re-post my earlier note/question: -

Just to share with u wonderful guys out there.

Discovered dust on CCD and later called nikon service centre to find out what to do. Was told to send in camera and may have to leave my baby (D70) there for 2 days. They assured that cleaning will be free since camera is still under warranty. However I also found out that cleaning CCD would cost S$90 after warranty expires.

Any cost efficient (and safe and also cheap) way to clean CCD after warranty expires? D100 users - how do you solve cleaning problem?

Huh?? 2 days?? I got mine cleaned on the spot, 3 times consecutively until I was very pleased with the results.

Do a search on the forums, sfhuang has a wonderful walkthrough on how to clean the CCD DIY. Alternatively just send in for cleaning, it's only $90 ($76.50 for NPS).

Err....it's best to know how to clean your CCD yourself. This is like a basic photographic skill. The same goes to the body, lenses, bags, tripods.... Or I might be badly mistaken, there are National Geographic wildlife photogs here.... Stubborn dust.
