    Hi,

I am looking for a camera that has the size of a APS-C sensor or 4/3, But the overall physical size is not as big as a dSLR. The price range will also be around 500.

I am confused by so many choices out there. Is there a better one that will suit me?

I am using it for a back up camera and spare camera to shoot ard.

You have a VERY broad requirements list. There are all the smaller DSLR cameras and EVIL cameras like the m4/3 cameras, the Sony NEX, or the Sigma cameras. You never mentioned if you need an interchangeable lens, lens requirements, etc etc etc etc.

But for 500? Maybe a second-hand sigma. Other than that, you will need to top up.

Frankly, I don't think $500 is possible. Maybe a film camera? or maybe a good 2nd hand compact like the A610 or G9, G10, G11?

$500 can get you a DSLR without the lens.
    Like Canon 400D / 450D.
But thats too big for what you need, ya?

Sony NEX, Samsung NX10 (APS-C sensor) or Olympus PEN, Panasonic G-series (4/3 sensor).

The price range will also be around 500.
I don't think you can get any with lens, even 2nd-hand. BUT I'm not a walking 2nd-hand price guide, so don't take my word for it.

All cameras can produce decent pictures. Check the Buy & Sell forum for prices. But as mentioned: within your price range you won't find recent models. For comparison of specs you might want to check with usual review sites like dpreview and others.

please wait 5 years down the road when the current 4/3 or APS-C mirrorless cameras drop in price.
