Default Sotec WL7160C (Laptop) - Good buy?

Went SLS earlier on and came across this Sotec WL7160C.

    Specs:
Mobile AMD Athlon XP -M 1600+
    256 RAM (PC2100)
    30 GB Hdd (4200 rpm)
    12.1" TFT
    Built in CDRW/DVD
    WinXP HE
    1 Year Warranty
    ~3 hrs battery life
    ~1.9 kg

At a price of $1699 w/ a free Lexmark Color printer, I thought it seemed like a worthwhile buy for a portable laptop. Was told Sotec is quite established in Japan (searched and found a link here).

    Any comments?

looks okie. just make sure u check the warranty is by sotec's local office and not from the shop. some SLS retailers are unscrupulous and dun tell u where the warranty is from. if their shop close down and ur laptop spoil, good luck....

btw, u might want to up the RAM to 512MB. also, since its using a desktop version of AMD, u might want to go hunt for a product called SpeedBall, available at challenger for ~$20. it's 2 semispheres of telfon coated balls attached to the bottom of ur laptop. it raises the laptop and improves the air flow so that ur laptop won't overheat.
