Hi,
I am new to this forum and currently live in Phuket but I am from Sweden. I am currently looking for a Nikon D70 and I may buy it from Singapore (I have a friend there) to start with my new photography hobby. (I have been using 3 different digital cameras during the last 4 years and now it is time to climb up) I have some questions thought, SE Asia is very humid so how can I take care of my camera and lenses in the best way? The reason I ask is that I use Axis webcams (Sony CCD) for a bar and the picture quality is degrading rapidly, after just 5-6 months outdoors the picture quality is pretty bad. I have been using 3 Axis webcams due to this. I don't want this to happen to my new Nikon D70 I will buy. Anyone who know the current stock availibility and prices in Singapore? I saw prices around S$2100, it is around S$740 cheaper than I found in Phuket. (Not the bundle, I have to buy body and lens separate) |

What we do here in SEA, is we use dry box cabinet to store our camera equipments.
You're right, the D70 + kit price in Singapore is $2100 - but you have to be aware that you will only get local warranty for the camera body. cheers! N. |

There won't be much problem if you use the camera frequantly. It is when you are not using it that fungus will form, even when you store it in the dry cabi.

Less than $100. You can do a search under buy-sell forum for dry cabinet to get a feel of the prevailing market price in Singapore.

may i ask something, which is better ????
normal heating element type dry cabinet or humidifier cabinet. I was told lens tats store in normal heating element type dry cabinet might have cracks develop over the body over a period of time..how true is this ![]() Last edited by shineshy; 19th May 2004 at 08:20 AM. |

Hmmm. A cheapskate way is to get a airtight box and put in lots of silica gel. Then seal the top with one layer of clingwrap before closing the lid. Not very pro but it ways especially if you're on a tightstring after spurging on the D70. At the very least it gives you soem time to buy up your reserve again!
