they seem a bit large for dust particles and they are almost perfectly circular... very reflective dust particles?

High Chance its your sensor that's dirty...send it for cleaning. Do some test shots @ similar setting to see if it happens again after sensor cleaning

Maybe 7th month subject along also enjoying. :P

Anyway, I don't think is dust is the cause for the cirrular abberation.

It seems more like the light source from those little tiny bulds or the light being bend from the reflect from some other source. If you look at your pic with those tiny light souce turned off, or taking photos away from those sources, the effect of the cirrular abberation is very low.

My suggestion, is that you take a pictures of other site/scene to determine if it is the cause of your camera or the site itself.

you should also try with a different lens.. to see if the lens or the camera is the problem...

actually in most shots it is totally fine. however, certain places this show up, but not only in 1 place. the lens itself is clean...

actually this might seem v strange but I have been told quite seriously that these are protective spirits...although honestly I am not inclined to believe it...

so I am trying to find an explanation!!!

They are just dust particles in the air being lit up by the camera flash - happens with compact cameras as the flash is really close to the lens.

Look like backscatter. That's light from a flash or strobe reflecting back from particles in the lens's field of view causing specks of light to appear in the photo. This happen more offen in underwater photgraphy as is it more likely to have suspended particulars in water.
