Default From SLR (film) to DSLR

I have just bought a Canon EOS 500D as a start. Photography was my hobby since 1990's. Due to busy work schedule and the digital photography tide over film photography, I have since retired from this hobby 10+ years ago.

I am back now picking up this hobby again but I need to resharpen my skills here. Hope to learn from all of you in Clubsnap.

    welcome to CS
Do note the differences between how film "records" the image and how digital does it
practice more and you will be fine

As weegk can tell you, after shooting a sunrise, film's dynamic range and digital's differ a lot. And the reaction to highlights and lowlights also very different. Nothing beats going out to shoot more and learning. The good thing is, a lot of skills, like composition, handhold, metering etc... are still quite similar.

Welcome to CS! I have experience in film cameras but none with film slrs.

In fact I think digital is easier to pick up and it's free to shoot Have fun!
