Manfrotto happen to be the most popular tripods, and is at the mid range compare to those much higher price tripod, so some people will upgrade, or downgrade to suit their needs, nothing wrong with the Manfrotto tripod.

Advice: read up about tripod heads and the criteria to select the right one. There's a guide for that here as well: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=384016
Define your needs and your budget, then select accordingly.
