Default Spilt buy and sell forum

How abt seperating the buy and sell forum into buy forum and sell forum? We dont have to go through all these WTB, WTS, MWTB, MWTS, FS, ... etc.

So buyers can just go to sell forum, and vice versa.

I actually will like it to remain like it is. Since most of the time, I am looking at what I can sell and what I can buy. All under the same forum will make it easier for the moderator to work as well. As both are under the same genre of business or deal.

If we spilt it to buy and sell forum. Maybe later we will have people suggesting to spilt it to lens/body and others. We might have no end to it.

Actually, I would like to suggest to change the format of the buy and sell.
How abt one that allow just one post stating to buy or sell. Sort of like a notice board. All communication to be done via pm, email or phone.

Hopefully, it will clear up the forum a bit. Just thinking.. Maybe we can concentrate more of photography then?

Would prefer to leave it as it is. If it aint broke, no point fixing it.

Leaving everything to PM, email and phone can be very tedious when you have to reply one by one. As it is, the seller can also currently post updates which is useful - and let potential buyers know when the item has been sold

Actually under existing rules only WTB and WTS are allowed in Buy/Sell. MWTB/MWTS will be moved to Consumer Services

You will notice that WTB threads don't really attract much attention. It's the WTS threads that really get the limelight. the Buy/Sell is efffectively a seller's forum anyway. In view of this, a separate WTB forum will likely be deserted.

Currently WTB threads do not really add much to the clutter - so this suggestion IMO is unnecessary. Separating the forum also means more clicks needed

Hmm.. I agree that we shouldn't fix a thing that ain't broken.

But the fact that we have so many post at buy/sell and so many "Upz" in a single post is very frustrating to view.

I always click on "find new" most of the time. Most of the time, I got those buy/sell thread that is purely "Upz" to get attention. Other important post will be overlooked due to this.

In my view, this system is flawed. That's way I proposed it to be "fix".

Anyway, we can't edit a buy/sell ads. The "close thread" function could be used to idicate that an item is no longr available. (It is in already in use)

If one seller or buyer should find it too tedious or troublesome to deal with potential buyer/seller. He should sell it to 2nd hand camera shop and not deal here.

Just my humble opinion.

I do find that there is a need to develop some broad category to reduce the huge number of upz and to make it browse through something in the forum.

For eg.

35mm (D)SLR & lens
Digital Compacts (prosumer/consumer)
Other cameras (flim compacts, medium format)
accessories (tripods, projectors, loupes, batteries, x-drive)

Most people looking in one of these category aren't gonna to touch another much (with the exception of accessories) so it will make things more managable.

We'll be working on a different layout/process for the Buy/Sell forums soon. Hopefully that will improve the situation that many of us face now.

While we're on changes, can i also suggest that posts from 'garbage and testing' do not turn up in the 'daily new posts'?
