    Congrats on your new cam.
Depends on your budget actually. Better go to the shops to take a look.

    Sirui?

Can check it out at TK Photo, Funan.
Or other brands at K13, Level 2 Peninsula Plaza...
Or Benro tripods at Benphoto, Peninsula Shopping Centre (below Excelsior)
    There are many more options.
    Exploring! :)

For EP1, I suggest a Sirui T-1005X or T-1205X with G10 ball head. More than enough.

    Welcome to CS
One of the most important thing to do is to read up the manual for your camera. Don't forget that

Just get to any shop and you will easily find common brands like sirui, silk, benro, manfrotto etc..

The fact you got ep1 allows you to get a lightweight tripod. And most tripods will be able to handle the weight of ep1 so you really have lots of choices.
The best things in life are free.

Just know that with your budget, you cannot even get the tripod legs itself(Go see TK foto for the prices)...

I'm only kidding about the Gitzo legs... don't take me so seriously!

I'm here to spread the BBB poison!
EP1 w kit lens should not weigh more than 1kg. Gitzo is probably total overkill!

Few things you should consider with a tripod:
    1) height (preferable not to have to stoop down too much to use it). Don't count the extendable center column when calculating the height.
    2) folded length (portability)
    3) weight
    4) rigidity. Ideally should have the last set of legs no thinner than your thumb. The whole setup should be firm when fully deployed. Cannot be wobbly.
    5) last but not least, price.

Cheap and light tripods are usually not strong
Cheap and strong tripods are usually not light
Light and strong tripods are most definitely not cheap

I second that recommendation ! ...just make sure you DON'T touch any of the Carbon Fibre ones and you'll be fine !

A couple of buddies (with NO intentions of buying tripods) followed me into TK to look see and made the mistake of 'touching them' ...long story short, both ended up leaving with a CF tripod each and about $290 poorer !

if u got no specific demand for specs, just get those cheap tripod (free gift from cameras, carrefour, etc). Should cost u only 10-20SGD or so. EP1 is very light only, the cheap ones are pretty light too.

    alternatively, try gorillapod.
cameras are not made of tofu

$290? hmmm must be the T-2204x. LOL.

I went in tried the tripods, almost bought the T-2204x on the spot. But wife was with me so I couldn't buy.

I got focused again, went back, tried the T-1004x and T-1204x and found out that the aluminium T-1004x for some weird reason is better at absorbing vibrations than the CF T-1204x. Ended up spending $110 on the T-1004x (without ballhead).

But the lure of the CF T-2204x is very strong, it is one hell of a tripod. But I just wanted a cheap beater tripod for travel, and the weight of the T-1004x is quite light, and it already serves my needs. And I will not be heartbroken if I broke it, or if I dip it in water. Plus, the aluminium one will work better as a weapon when faced with sticky situations when travelling in the backroads. The CF are just too light to hurt people.

Nope, they got the R1204, G10 ballhead, tripod bag bundle.

Nothing like having the wifey along to keep the pockets tight ! ...I routinely bring mine along when I'm not sure of purchases (so that i got excuse to back out)

Bro, you whack baddies with those skinny aluminium tripod legs, I think they'll fall backwards laughing, but if you grab the legs and whack them with the Ballhead !!! ...it's really gonna hurt ! ...in this case, the CF will do more damage ...that's why the top Tennis and squash racquets are made of CF !!!
