Man... Please teach me your technique of mind control... I'd love to tell my DSLR how to compensate also!

Just kidding bro! You must be pretty good at this, whereas I'm still wearing the proverbial "diaper" as we speak...

I don't really use this also, it's so crumpled and thorn now. I usually just guess when I get the usual exposure before I attach the filter. If it doesn't look right I just compensate again and reshoot hehe..But it is quite handy when I get some reading that I'm not familiar with and get confused half-way calculating in my mind..my maths is so poor!

Can't remember if it was r00ki3's ND110 that I borrowed the other time, but he was there when I stacked 2xND110

This kind is just one time play play lah.. to prove it can be done (shot in f1.6 on a prime lens in full sunlight). In real life, where got need 20 stops ND filter one

I think the max prob is 13 stops (10+3)

So that when people post in forum that it cannot be done, I can say, it has been done
And they say the colour cast will be crazy, I will say, it can be removed.

do factor in a bit of argarration.

Yes especially before sunrise before the sun is up. Also I find that it is quite dependable on total amount of light available thus metering without ND filter and 1000x with ND filter doesn't work well before sunlight is fully up and quite a bit of guesstimation required. After a few times, one would roughly know how to compensate for it.

I always thought it's more of a guessing game once you are familiar and comfortable using ND filters. The charts I shared are more of a guide for me, so that I won't 'guess' too far away from the estimated compensation.

As wildcat have mentioned. Even when you follow what the chart indicates, your picture sometimes still turned out dark or underexposed especially when light is changing. That's when 'guessing' comes in

Pardon me if anyone disagree, and please correct me if I'm wrong

mathematically there's nothing wrong... and it's a good guide.

but application wise, sunrise and sunset both need different compensation due to increasing light and decreasing light respectively...
