I always use Av on day to day photography. For events, i use M cos i find that it is very hard to get desired exposure when on A and external flash. Currently, now trying to get used to using M because i find that it is very useful and more predictable

I use A all the time cos it's so easy to use. Otherwise I use M for consistency.

I use A mode most of the time, but swap between spot and matrix metering. Will try M mode once I have mastered spot metering

I uses the Aperture Priority most often. It's the norm I suppose.

There's also the A-Depth mode in Canon camera which makes sense. It determines the ISO base on the focusing distance.

not good idea.. iso can be bumped up to 3200 then images turn grainy

    Manualmode for night photography
Aperture priority mode mostly for portraiture
S or A mode mostly on outdoor daytime
    auto mode mostly in indoor

in sony alphas, there is this "no-flash mode" which is very usable for candid shot

agree with AV for portrait but manual can be for everything... its sorta like auto except u need to control shutter speed. vs TV mode, manual is better cos it doesnt anyhow change ur aperture. in fact i think TV is quite useless... at least auto mode got use: when u want a friend who dunno how to use dslr to help u take pic juz switch to auto and pass to him ^^ hehe
