Default Pulau Ubin

Have seen some ubin shot recently, Here's mine for sharing. Went there last Sunday and sure it was very hot weather.

All shots was taken using the oly C730.

This shot was taken at the Changi Jetty while waiting to board our water taxi.
You can see that the morning sun was very strong and hash.

There are many bicycle shops at Ubin (I think as many as 6), very competitive, we manage to bargain for a good rate in one of the rental shop.

A street shot of a family enjoying their ride.

There are many hotspots in this photo, no choice, the sun was really bright, need to compromise on the detail in the shadow... taken while we were resting...

A view of an old quarry...

The subject is the geen foliage under the strong noon sun, the clear blue sky makes the picture stand up...

There is a legend about this temple or shrine, which is situated in a very deserted area on the island. We have to ask the elder resident there for direction and it took us about half an hour of cycling to reach there. The place is very open and seems that land clearing is going on by the sight of some bulldoozer... then out of nowhere in the middle of the vast open space, there stood this yellowish small temple beside a tree..., a very big contrast with the surrounding open land, very serene and quiet place. Here goes the story:

In 1914 there was a young German girl who ran away (apparently in fear) from her Ubin-plantation home and fell to her death. The body, discovered the next day covered in ants, was buried at the same beach. Villagers kept seeing her ghost so the remains were removed to a nearby shrine. The Chinese shrine for the German girl is still present outside one of the quarries. The remains (hair, coins, some bone) were looted but the urn that held them is still there... --- story extracted from
here

The temple was locked, so I can only lift my cam to the top to snap the inside... As you can see, this German girl was given a title of "Naduk"

Some humour advertising here...

Going home.... Thanks for viewing my photo
