Although this camera is "all-in-one", i think it will spoil market badly, unless it remain at 1.6x, to let FF/1.3 market survive. It may also spoil the lens market. Since Cannon is a long rang weapon, is Canon specialised telezoom cameras? The zoom and the "IS" shown in the youtube vid is uber imba. at super long tele, you can pan the bird smoothly... even panning from a tripod may not 100% be "shake"-free, unless u do remote panning. hmm, maybe Canon wants to revolutionise the camera world like iphone did to mobile phone world.

Not within a couple of years, 2 TB within even a SDXC memory card is not far away from reality not to mention Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and Solid-State Drive (SSD) with capacity in the petabyte range.

hmm, i don't doubt the storage space, i only doubt the ability to process it. Economically wise, not every computer has specs good enough for video editing. And if 1gb/min of "raw footage" i wonder how long will it take to render... after editing unless the 720 or 1080p still have "market" then. then maybe rendering is faster...

Not to worry, within a decade or two new and emerging computing technologies such as those based on the principles of Quantum Mechanics (QM) will make your current Intel Core i7 PC feels like one powered by an Intel 486.

however, nothing can automate "composition" - which is what differentiates one picture from another...

composition and its associated creativity is inside our heads... and while we can advance as much as possible on the associated tools and technologies, photography is nothing without good composition...

True to a certain extent but with rules of photo composition that are defined around a fixed set of geometric parameters, algorithms can always be written an an attempt to identify elements that conform to these rules in relation to the scene as a whole automatically.

But of course no programs can ever wish to imitate the infinite creative power of the intuitive human mind.

i think its totally impossible.. and i'll tell you why

my wife and i have often stood together and observed a scene.. then we ask each other what stood out for each of us... and we both see different things of interest...

if 2 people who have been together as life partners for so long, and standing next to each other see different things of interest in the same scene, how do you put an algorithm to that?

that is not just composition, its also perspective and view... cameras, however advanced, cannot read our minds and see through our eyes.... yet!

Think of auto focusing... even the most professional camera today can still get the AF wrong.
However, when we look back, the AF technology has improved tremendously over the years.
No matter what, it will require both the technology and humans' judgment/intelligence combined.

I think its totally possible, its just a matter of time
