I lived outside of Singapore for the last 15 years, my current assignment is in Shenzhen, land of major fakes, however, I have been shopping for lenses mainly in Hong Kong. Here I was introduced to the world of grey market lenses, guaranteed only by the shops that sells them. As we all know, grey market lenses is not lenses from the local Canon agent. Only thing is that they are not guaranteed, if defective, agent will still repair them but one has to pay for it. Current manufacturing process are very consistent so what is the pro and cons of buying these lenses.
Brand new grey market 16-35 f2.8L mkII going for Rmb9650 or S$1,985. No matter how good they are, I strongly doubt they can fake an L lens.
Comments are very welcome.
