Are you sure this exists? Matrix Metering system is also used in Canon bodies, they just name it differently.
matrix metering on nikon = evaluative metering on canon right?

Based on FX and DX series, Nikon operates on three Auto Focus modes:
    1. Dynamic-area AF mode (choose from 9, 21, 51 & 51 pts 3D-tracking)
    2. Single-point AF mode (custom settings allow 51 or 11 AF pts, you may pick one of the points for single-point AF mode)
    3. Auto-area AF mode (All 51pts are stand-by to focus on scene)

    Their exposure metering names are:
    1. Matrix (the long name is "3D colour matrix metering II")
    2. Center-weighted
    3. Spot

Here are two links you may read to understand how Nikon metering and auto focus system works.

*Warning long read and may confuse you even more..

A bit of mixed up here (Wrong info from my dear Nikon user)..
I am refering to dynamic area AF, not matrix metering.
