    The use of ISO 12800 is most probably to give you faster shutter speed when you use A mode so that you could still hand hold without tripod. It doesn't guarantee the image is clean. use only when no other choice I guess.

    sounds like a paparazzi lol. and pp raw files also has limit in reducing noise at high high iso.

    actually we were taking a ride on the SG Flyer and I want to take pics from the cabin, since its moving so using long exposure will just result with blur pics

    Even then, you should not need to go above ISO 3200. What were your aperture and shutter speed results?

    TS, yes there is a way to go very very high ISO with minimal noise.

    When there is a will, there is a way (deep pockets help too).
    Get a D3s.

    Yup, quite agree.
    Last time, when I was using Canon 30D, noise was really bad already at ISO800.
    Now using 5d mk II, the noise is just barely there even at ISO1600.

    Deep pockets do help
