That is probably the biggest single problem of the AFD. thanks
Hey.. Paiseh, i didnt do the bokeh fringing test. I do not have D series to compare now but I could shoot something and post it up later bit. Oh yea, I didn't really know what to look out for but here's a rough sample between the two lens at D700, same setting.

    Thanks PETE for the photos

I think you just mentioned that you don't have AFD 85mm f1.4 for doing comparison ?

No worries. I actually meant I don't have AFD lens now to do bokeh fringing test because I have to meet up with my friend to do the comparison as what I did this afternoon for the posted photos.

Thanks. Actually you can see bokeh fringing quite clearly on your test pics for both the new and old lens.

Here are some shots from Nikon product manager Lindsay Silverman. Bokeh looks a little harsher than the AF-D version.

I did a test shot last night on a piece of White paper with black wordings. I noticed front bokeh wordings has slight purplish while d back bokeh wording becomes with greenish. Could it be becoz of the artificial lightings in my room? But I did use a pop up flash to illuminate it. I'll post the photo later with my laptop after my dental check up!

Yup I notice that, also it's warmer like what Dfive said, I also notice the focal length seems slightly longer than AFD as the subject is bigger when took with AFS
