    Default Keep Going!

    1. in what area is critique to be sought?
Mood, composition. What does the picture say at first sight. Any other comments on anything else is also welcome.

    2. what one hopes to achieve with the piece of work?
Intention was to portray the tenacity of the jogger to press on with his run even though it was blazingly hot.

    3. under what circumstance is the picture taken? (physical conditions/emotions)
It was taken at around 5pm in the evening at Bedok Reservoir, but it was unusually warm that day.

    4. what the critique seeker personally thinks of the picture
I thought it could be made into an inspirational poster. Nevertheless, I thought the railings at the side could be cloned away.

Please, give your honest critiques! Will take them into consideration and try to produce better images.

There isn't enough motion, therefore the impact is not there.

The arms and legs are not being captured in the best position.

Angle could have been lower some more.

Those clouds merging with the legs should have been noticed before shooting.

Actually can use the body to block partially of the sun instead of direct glare.

    hi thanks for the critique!

actually i was at the lowest point of the place already. was using a UWA to try and take the shot... the camera was already on the ground tilted up a little.

agree with the clouds.. u have sharp eyes.. i didn't even notice that.

i wanted to try to use the body to block the sun but then that would mean not giving space to the runner in his front.. i tried that composition but this one seems to look better..

again, thanks for taking the time to view and critique my photo!

Is the subject a friend of yours ?

If it is...then you should have discuss with him about your intention of the shot and adjust or move to another more suitable location.

The jogger could have move closer to the edge.

Ideally, if the sun would sparkle thro his glasses would be nice.

haha nope, it wasn't my friend. it was some random jogger along bedok reservoir.. i was sitting on the benches along the side of the jogging track, trying not to look so prominent to capture something like this photo.. it was the only bench around that area that gives me a clear view of the sun without distraction. if i'd moved to the left there'd be a sign that sticks out on the right, and if i'd moved to the right there'd be trees to the left... yup..

true true, he was shot quite close.. not at the edge.. haha thanks for that note!

hmmm... the "tenacity of the jogger to press on" didn't come to me when i look at ur pic, could be becoz of the runner posture like what cabbySHE have mention... and the "blazingly hot" could be better if the sky wasn't that blue

but still, i think its quite a good picture worth printing

Just saw a demo on photoshop CS5 - you can move the person to different location, change the leg swing position etc..
very powerful. Only problem is that what you want to excessive post processing.

The arms and leg position seems like he is slacking during the jog.
I cant feel the heat but theres some mood there.
    Exposure and color is good.

My 2 cents to show tenacity you probably need to show sweat. if only you found another jogger that was sprinting or having a wider stride this would work.

haha thanks for the compliment! But i'll improve more on the composition before printing anything haha..

crop out the right, got the funny structures there.

not a bad idea, but you need a more distinct silhouette, right now his legs are blending into each other, which makes this less impactful than it could have been.

ah thanks for the critique bro. you mean by having a photo of the jogger with a bigger stride, like sprinting?

agree with the funny structures. i tried to crop it away but it kinda took away the attention of the direct glare of the sun to portray 'sweltering heat'. so i left it there but may clone it away when i'm less stressed on my workload.

Thanks! I like your landscape works. trying to replicate them haha but as always.. cannot match up but that's where we learn.
