Default What do u think of a chile trip without trekking in 2.5 weeks?

been looking for a very late jan photographic trip that will extend into early feb to make use of CNY, hoping to span a festival to shoot within this slot. i'm looking at easter island and chile as a possible location that may fall into the above slot (i've look into many other possibilities but won't mentioned it here).

i haven't really done the actual homework and look into the locations.
few fests exact dates uncertain at the moment as i googled but couldn't find them.
tapaki fest date will be released towards end of the year.
    - late jan, cowboy, Chiloť, mid south
    - late jan-early feb, tapaki fest, easter island
    - early feb 1st week, folk music, encuentro folk, Chiloť, mid south
    - early feb, pilgrimage, Copiapů, mid north

2.5 weeks to cover (<2/52 in jan, 1/52 in feb)
    - santiago, valparaiso, easter island
    - KIV chiloe, copiapo (dep on festival dates).

any inputs to share for those who have been to chile/easter island? i know most ppl go there for trekking and choose peru/bolivia for cultural aspect instead. but i want to pair it with fest in easter island, chile probably the way to go??

p.s. not decided on the trip, in fact very undecided on where to go.

i would personally bite the bullet and just spend all that time in patagonia, even though i hate climbing mountains.

    but that's just me

i'm not so sure. it is of secondary priority. i need faces, and i hope they are locals and friendly locals, ppl receptive to being photographed, and that isn't something i find easy with actually - i can't always just go japan and india. without which, i will feel somewhat missing, even if i got the iconic buildings and scenaries, i want portraits and events and hopefully with pleasant experiences.

i dunno if peru+easter island going to make a pair though. or whether i would have some luck with ppl photography at chile. or maybe i should just drop easter and pick up Candelaria fest in peru and just do peru all and all.
