Default Macro take at SBG - 17 April

1. Dragon Fly - backlight - 1/125 f8 - Flash -1.3EV with 80 - 200 f2.8ED + 500D


2. Mating damsefly - 1/60 f16 - Flash -1.3EV with 80 - 200 f2.8ED + 500D


3. Damsefly eating fly - 1/100 f8 - Flash with 70 - 300 f3.5G + 500D


forgot to add in : TC1.4X was used.

Slightly below your usual high standard. 2nd shot is the best of the lot. Focus for the other two is off. Nice idea for the first shot. I am sure it will get better as you get more familiar with yr new setup. Keep it up!!

i like pict 2. haha... how did u get to shoot insects like these man?!?! how far were u from them? how long did u wait?

i can see sign of handshake on 2nd pic too, not that easy using the heavy 80-200 F2.8 at 1/60s

thanks FujiS2, Checker and Falcon for your feedback and comments.

Focusing is not easy as i am using the old model push pull 80 - 200 f2.8. I forgot to add in that i had added a TC1.4X for all the pictures above to get more magnification. It's heavy but good training to develop better handholding techniques.

It was hard to focus the first photo as the backlight is very strong. I could hardly see clearly thru the viewfinder.

I have sharper version of the second photo which I had used Flash sync of 1/500 which D70 permits. The downside is that the background is darker than my usual preference. So I lowered the shutter speed to get a brighter background. Here's the 1/500 version:-
