Composition and exposure of the first shot are excellent. Keep up the good work.

Nice catch for the first shot. I prefer a much closer shot.

Thanks for the comments Falcon, FujiS2 and Edsel.

The feeding dragon is my favourite shot also. Was lucky to shoot it in an sunny open grass patch beside a stream, hence very good background lighting. Unlike the other two shots under the forest canopy, very dark.

Edsel: Chose not to go nearer at first because wanted a more composed shot of the whole guy as opposed to a more technical shot. Later, I wanted to change to vertical position and close up on the head and mouth feeding on the insect, but the bugger flew away.

jjtml & Lion King: Thanks very much. May go macro shooting tomorrow or Saturday. Feeling rather lazy as of late, and the hot weather is not helping.

Just out of curiosity, Jason, where did you get the ID of the dragonfly's victim?

Nice shot of the Common 4-Ring.

Thanks.

Where else but the most comprehensive website on local Butterflies? (Your site ) Just made a guess based on how it looked. What's the guy's correct ID?

Heh heh... probably not what you guessed, from the shot posted here, unless you've got a clearer view of the poor dead Skipper in another shot. These chaps are not easy to ID in any case, and from the remains of what I can see in the shot, it's definitely not a H. adrastus.

Well, What do you like to see? Why not post some macros which you like for us instead?

It just so happens that those of us which post butterflies and Odonata pictures do it because we like them. Have you not noticed the sheer variety of colour and texture in the insect kingdom? It's so much richer than the man made world.

The third shot is cute... can just imagine the butt telling his butt-friends,
"Just as the photographer arrived, I slipped off the leaf! How Paiseh man! Hope he did not get a shot of it....!"

A good suggestion is to join us for a outing. See nature in its glories and colors and maybe you will come to appreciate natures' little wonders... the dragon/damsel and butterflies and many more.
Shooting macros in the field and shooting macros in the comfort of your room is totally a different ballgame.

You r always welcome to post new subjects, and maybe create an interest group of them. To us, these are the subjects that we r interested in, so naturally we post pics of them.
