    i send it in to them.. u can bring it down to them first..
    there is no cost involved for evaluation..(takes about 2 days or more)
    after they tell you the cost, then u decide if you want to proceed or not

    sorry.. made a mistake.. it was 1 tb for 2k..

    An ex-colleague of mine used to work at Quantum (HD manufacturer, acquired by Maxtor, then Maxtor got bought by Seagate) said that the majority of problems seen in RMAed (sent back for warranty) drives was circuit-board related and not mechanical. All the technicians had to do was replace the circuit board.

    Hopefully you've only got a bad circuit board and not bad mechanical parts.
