Default how do i post process such photo?

i went to Changi Coastal Walk yesterday.
took some shots and realised the image was darken due to the super bright sunlight.

    exp:

how to i process this such that i can get the surrounds (below part) to looks normal but maybe remains the blue sky??

i kinda like this sky .. the clouds looks nice to me.

Duplicate layer-->expose the bottom part correctly-->erase off the underexposed part on the top layer

You can try the Shadows/Highlights tool also.

It can look pretty good already by just opening up in PS and click "Image->Auto Tone". If you need to brighten the sea further, you'll need to use layer make the adjustment.

Use two curves adjustment layers. On the first I set white point on the clouds. On the second (with the black/white mask), I adjusted everything below the horizon.

if you have PSCS5 the HDR toning and curve plus USM will give you this result.

    Hi wuminlee,

Is this what you want/like. I've help you try out one editing using PSE8, hope you like it and don't mind some of the artifacts-around the right-portion of blue sky, due to this small file, unless is the orig-file...
