With any macro lens when stopped down, you could get similar DOF, isn't it? Anyway, all taken at 180mm F16 on tripod with FF.

I feel that the colours lacks punch...

with Jeff's permission, posted the enhanced flowers...

advice to all :
it's very easy to overlook the digital post processing part of photography. But it HAS to be done to a majority of the shots everyone takes. Cheerful flowers need cheerful/bright/vibrant/high-key colours.

Not the best editing, but enjoy..

1st & 2nd r underexpose, white flower become gray flower. good job areality to correct the exposure. find that the 1st one a bit over on the top part after adjustment.

hi jeff, good attempts...

personally find DOF too shallow..perhaps stop down to smaller aperture? like f/22 - f/40 or higher...?

also, the colours are not quite correct for some of the flowers..and the reason for the under exposure for the first pic, was mainly due to the white?
anway, was flash used?

Hi Richard, I found that when I stop down further, the pic may not always turn out sharp, perhaps due to some camera shake out in the field. No mirror lock-up for me. Maybe just need more practice. Yes, fill-flash (w stofen) was used for all my shots. In fact, I use FF everytime I shoot, especially for avians.

And I'm quite conservative when it comes to post processing. My general work flow- Curves, US 125/0.25 one to two cycles, reduced jpeg. I have a tendency to sacrifice highlights for shadows, for the fine details that is. Just a habit. Will take note of all comments/criticisms. Please keep them coming.

I like 3 and 4 most... sharp, well exposed though 3 has this distracting threadlike thing in the foreground.

Nice colors!
