    Default beginner studio flash setup??

Can anyone recommend a flash kit for a beginner? I have around $2400 AU saved up...not willing to spend all of that though :P. I'm really busting to get into some nice portraiture and do a few little studio shoots for my portfolio. Anyone know any decent brands? Kits available? Want to share some experiences? Give advice? I'm a sponge...feed me with information hehe :P

id like to know that too :P. I hear 250w is good for backlighting...should a monobloc be used for the main source of frontal fill light? Something around 500w? I'm not really sure, im just beginning. I might even rent a setup for a weekend and see what I can come up with.
