East coast may not really be the best place cos it actually faces south. I wud recommend Changi Beach or Pasir Ris.

There are a couple of places and why don;t you try doing a search on the forum. Changi beach is not too bad a place. And depending on what you want to capture in the background in addition to the sunrise, you might want to try the second jetty along East Coast Parkway. Its the one near the sailing club.

Here's a sunset photo. I took this on Sunday, 11/4/2004 at Changi Boardwalk.

Think sunset is much easier to look for than sunrise.. I have seen many good sunset photos.. but not much on Sunrise..
Any good sunrise photos to share?
You have probably seen more sunset photos than sunrises becos no one (or few) want to wake up so early.

They are equally nice but perhaps not the hues that you see for sunset.

    i have never foto-ed a sunrise cos i m just a newbie.
but i believe changi beach is the best place to catch a sunrise.
walk towards the end of the beach. usually i get quite a gd view there
can catch ubin in the back grd
    start from 5am onwards.
due to the position of the sun,the colours at different areas r different at different times.
dunno if u will actually share my sentiments, but its really magical for me.
just pray that there r not much clouds.if not waste ur sleep =P

Its near the Changi Sailing Club. You can try parking along Netheraven Road, but I'm not too sure if its legal.
