    20 milliseconds = 1/50th of a second

    Big numbers, small units.
130nm and 90nm may seem very small. In fact nm = 1/1,000,000,000 m so 40nm is very small indeed. But why are companies like Intel, AMD, TMSC, etc spending billions of USD and government (including SG's) spending lots of many attracting these companies to invest on these nanoscopic stuff?

Your mistake is that you treat the importance based on the absolute difference while the only thing that is important to anyone is the relative difference. Read the thread by Ian on shutter lag and the importance to some. Just because it is not important to you does not mean it has no importance to everyone.

Little steps add up to big gains, and the R&D companies constantly push the envelope, post the results to aid their marketing effort. Its a Very Big Thing when one company comes out with a processor that had a benchmark score 2.3% faster than any of the competition, you know.

To misconstrue my post as being nonchalant to the issue of shutter lag is a mistake in itself; let me know when you can measurably tell the difference between 1/50th second shutter lag and 2/50th second shutter lag, ok? That's a 100% difference in speed.

Would you be kind enough to translate it to English for those of us who cannot read Chinese?

As adapted from the great late Comrade Deng,

"No matter if it's a F-mount or an EF-mount, can be used take pictures is a good mount."

"mount" sounds like "mao" which means "cat" in chinese

deng was using cats (mao) as an analogy
