Default 1GB CF or 4 GB Micro Drive, which one u'll chose?

Hi guys,
I want to know your opinion
If you have $450 to spend for your camera memory which one you will choose

1 GB CF (flash memory)
or
4 GB Microdrive

I guess both now cost about the same price

depends on your needs, the camera you are using and what you use the card for.

depends on whether you need speed (i.e. if your camera can make use of it) or capacity more. if I was on a trip with no access to laptop/image tanks and intend to shoot a lot, 4GB Microdrive would be the better choice. otherwise, I would go for a fast 1GB.

If you are on a trip and intend to shoot a lot, you should not depend on just a 4GB microdrive for storage. If it happens to die then all your images are gone. Don't put all your eggs into one basket. You just need it to happen to you once and you will know how painful it is.

if cost is not an issue, definitely 4x1GB CF is the best option (or simply shoot with at lower resolution or more compression).

It's usually a balance between cost and benefits. generally if you treat your equipment with care, microdrive could last the trip (shock that can spoil the midrodrive will probably damage the camera as well).

I would take the CF card. Durability is the key.

It's about your need. Using a underwater photographer having a D70 with a fully charged battery as an example:

With a 4gb MD and shooting on Raw mode, you can get about +600 shots at one go. On the aver of 3 dive/day, you can go on the whole day without removing the camera from the housing; bearing in mind that each time you uncase the uw housing to get things changed, you are risking the "flood factor" if things are not put back properly and securely. Once you are done for the day, transfer you images out when you are high and dry and you are ready for the next day

Just my 2cts worth. Hope it helps
