Nikon View, Capture and Photoshop CS - EXIF Data

Wonder if anyone has come across the following problem relating to EXIF data with these applications - Nikon View 6.2.1, Nikon Capture 4.1, Photoshop CS with Camera Raw 2.1 - on Mac OSX.

If I open a NEF file directly in Photoshop thru Camera Raw, all the EXIF data is available.

If I open the same NEF file in Photoshop thru Nikon View i.e. by choosing "Open With.." none of the EXIF data is available in Photoshop.

If I open the same NEF file from within Nikon Capture Editor, then some of the EXIF data e.g. aperture, is missing in Photoshop. Transferring an image to Photoshop from Nikon Capture seems to result in a TIFF image with a randonly generated file name. I could not find any settings to control this.

Am I missing something here or is this a known bug?

I have a problem with missing ISO/ASA values in some softwares. Namely Irfan View, Photoshop, Windows viewer etc.
