Hi Nikonist
Did some input here. If price is not the issue here, would you still opt for D70 than D100? ![]() |

If I was interested in features.. and picture quality.. faster write speed.. larger buffer.. faster AF.. Colour matrix metering.. - D70..
If I was interested in built.. the D100.. and also for the grip.. couldnt live without one.. |

Nope, I'll opt for D100 over and over again. Until it's replacement appears
![]() D70 has not won my heart, and will never be able to. |

If Nikon came out with a camera that was any less then the D70.. after 2 years after the release of the D100... I would walk into the Nikon GM's office.. with all my Nikon gear and tell him.. I am changing to Canon.. coz Nikon's foresight of the future is so idiotic.. |

I agree with gadrian, the D70 is a PRELUDE, I repeat PRELUDE to what the D100's replacement will be AT LEAST.
If Nikon came out with a camera that's just a D100 hyped down, frankly, how different are they from Kwanon? Nikon goes far when designing, not to just make 'babies' from adults and package and sell. Now, having said that, drooling over the replacement for D100 yet? ![]() |

if someone already have a d100, there's little reason to get the d70, knowing d100 replacement is around the corner.... but for someone without, d70 is a better buy now (unless he needs vertical grip and wired release).

Aiyah, there will surely be a replacement for the D100. D70, be it an answer to 300D or a part-answer to 10D, is just for it to tap into a bigger slice of the "prosumer" market. After the 300D was introed, it is well-known that a big market exists there also in addition to the pros and semi-pro portion, and when there is a market, there will be a demand for glass too. Even if people buys non-Nikkor glass, it will still be tied to the F-mount. Thus it's a matter of sooner or later. Basket, if no D70 and wait 6 months later then release D200, Nikon will never be able to make a big impact. How big is the D100 market? The market would have been significantly snatched by the 300D and 10D (as well as 300D upgrade to 10D and 10D upgrade to 1DMkII even).
I am also sure a small portion will jump ship from D70 to D200 next time. I see guys here buying stuff like 70-200VR or Nikkor 12-24 like nothing. ![]() |

Agree 100%, D70 is good for people to start out or have no DSLR as yet. If you already have D100 better to wait unless you need iTTL and all the stuff. I am sure the D100 replacement will be as good in electronics as the D70 if not better and with a better build. If you already have D70 no harm keeping as 2nd body to compliment even if you are thinking of the D100 replacement.

Sure to enjoy my new toy. I am certain that D70 (enoughthough entry level for DSLR) is a better buy. What causes me to post this ad was that D100 body going for just S$ 2,288 (limited stock at Harvy Norman Jurong Point. Wow! same price as D70 kit. If those of you who still long for the 2yr old Professional series, call them to reserve a set. I am happy with this Prosumer series - D70. Have a great weekend Nikonian ![]() |
