    Default shooting dance at 50mm f1.8 + canon 500d @ ISO 1600 + 125 or 160 shutterspeed

    shooting dance at 50mm f1.8 + canon 500d @ ISO 1600 + 125 or 160 shutterspeed?

    is it good enough?

    will it be bright enough?

    will it be fast enough?

Depends on what kind of dance. If slow movements, it is ok. If movements are fast, you need shutter speed beyond 1/200.

The questions on good enough, bright enough... cannot answer. Don't know the lighting and physical conditions at your shoot venue.

Depends. Only the above 3 (iso, aperture, shutter speed) is determined by you, there's anotehr factor which u have not take into account.. the light intensity u intend to frame or the amount of ambient light available, shooting at wide open allow u to compensate at lower iso or faster shutter speed.

Noise is not caused by the lens. It is caused by your camera body.

And, sometimes, you need to prefocus, then set to MF. Fire away when the dancers reach your pre-focused spot. The next problem will be how you shoot. If you shoot it wide open and very close to the subject, your DOF will be very thin, making it a lot harder.

Nt sure on canon system, but typical AFD lens are nosiy (nt tat much to me) as they have a slotted drive screw and AF will be powered by the motor of ur body but AF is fast and spot on for sure.. Nikon 50 f1.8 is one for e.g

thx you very much for the reply, i loving 50mm f1.8 lens alot, the autofocus is not as jialatly slow as many people says, but once again it depends on the light at the time of shoot itself.. i might face the problem of very difficult to focus if the light is super super low i guess?

it depends, if you are shooting old ladies doing line dancing,

    versus a fast, energetic dance..

the amount of motion and speed in the picture determines what is enough, not a bunch of photography farts on the web.

most lenses will have trouble focusing in low light. compared to good light.

just take the most expensive lens into a pitch black and room and you'll see that it will not lock focus.

this is where manual focus comes into play... that's just how it is.

    will you be near enough?

take note that f1.8 creates a very shallow depth of field so depending on the effect you want, might want to consult a depth of field calculator.

since you already buy the lens, all thats left is are you good enough to get nice pics from the lens?
You wont see me much less remember me but i am the guy who makes you look good.
