Default Harvey Norman Extended Warranty - what does it cover?

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone here bought their cams from Harvey Norman with extended warranty and actually utilised the warranty coverage? What does it cover -- just parts or also labour? i.e. servicing at any one point during the warranty period is completely complimentary?

How much does the extra warranty cost? Can advise? Thanks in advance!

I would rather suggest to get extended warranty from your particular digicam manufacturer's eg. such as Panasonic, Canon, which they do have extended warranty program at a price, while for Harvey, you might as well buy from other retailer's cos' most retailer just simply don't filled up the date of purchase for you, so indefinitely meaning "lifetime" warranty.

I suppose it's only labour cost plus servicing if manufactoring fault. Lens broken etc not counted.

Eg. It can't operate.

i going to get some stuff on installments and i feel its worth paying the extra $ coz it's spread over 24 mths, wont feel the pinch. depends on what you buy, if it's a flash for eg, worth it coz its flash will last 3 yrs or less if heavily used. so u got to see what u buying loh...

Thanks Baiyun and Chyeo. I was thinking of getting my DSLR from Harvey Norman...on top of the extra cost in their price tag, how much do they charge for the extended warranty?

Coz if the extended 3 or 5 year warranty plus extra cost adds up to around $400...i still think it's worth it...I just sent my Nikon 5700 for servicing and it cost me $300 already...that is provided the extended warranty covers both parts and labour...

can share details like what the extended warranty covers, and how much it costs? thanks!!

I bought the extended warranty for my Sony F828. It cost me $145, which I feel is worth the price, considering that it covers all replacement of parts and labour for 5 years. To quote a line in the contract:

"Repairs covers the cost of parts and labour. On-site service charges for repairs are only covered for non-portable Products provided the original Manufacturer's Warranty states on-site service. Otherwise, on-site service charges will be paid by the customer."

Thanks Minimalis! That's the info I needed -- thanks for taking the effort to dig out the contract and quoting it here!
