    When I go out shooting wit my kids, I let them use my backups so that they fight over the use of my camera. My son was able to hand held a 40D with 400f5.6L when he was 7yr old.

    Your observation is accurate. More kids are using high end gear today.

    As to your reaction to the guy using pop-up flash...

    I'm just curious what photos he have taken and whether it will drive him to get better?

    My sec sch uses a d60 with kit lens and a 55-200mm. Nice lenses. Nice body.

    my school uses the Canon EOS 40 D lol its even heavier then my D60 ...!
    Only Good thing about CS Worth Watching is Kopitiam And B&S Section ... , no offence

    40D is in a different (better/higher) league of camera from D60, so naturally it's heavier.
