Thread: just a quick question

    Default just a quick question

something i have always wondered about. i would have put this in kopitiam but this is a serious question:

are there any professional landscape photographers in singapore?

by professional, i mean, earning your income from pure landscape photography and nothing else?

i know none, i only know people who dabble in architectural photography and occasional cityscapes as part of a "bao ka liao" photographer package sort of thing.

if you're talking in a globe scale, as in landscape photos from all over the world, and sell it in a worldwide market, yes.

but only landscape of SG, but selling in globe scale, very unlikely.

who will buy these landscape photos and does the volume can sustain the photographer to be full time?

you mean, there are singaporean photographers who specialise in landscape photography? that's really what i want to ask. as far as i can see the market is slanted towards things involving people. i know of one or two architectural photographers but that's about it.

ok catchlights asked it in an easier way.

apart from STB, i dont see much demand in singapore landscape. that probably explains why there are very few photographers who will just specialise in landscape.

nah, apologies for not phrasing it properly.

what i mean is mentioned in the last post. is there anyone from singapore doing landscape photography (not limited to singapore only, not limited to being sold in singapore, microstock no count) full time?

    Probably not in Singapore
there could be/might be Singaporean doing that, even so, likely to be based overseas.

Here is a reason why there isn't many (or if any) Singaporean that specialised in Landscape in Singapore is, there isn't many landscape to take. Mostly cityscape.

Unlike many part of the world, like UK, US, OZ, and Africa, Asia continent, there are many s call natural landscape.

I think it is purely geographic condition.

There are a lot of D&D in Singapore, that is why there are so many Event Photographer around.

It doesn't mean that you can't do it, it is a matter of finding a niche yourself.

I'm not sure is there any photographers solely shoot landscape, but as in travel photos (landscape, cityscape, people and events inclusive) there are many..

not knowing what you exactly looking for, if you are asking possible for you to go full time by shooting landscape only, I would suggest you try to sell your works in Art Print and keep your day job to try out first. or consider stock agencies.

nah, not interested in doing landscape photography fulltime.. i want to keep photography a hobby. was just pondering about this.. and thought that since photo biz would be a section where the full-time professionals hung out, perhaps maybe they knew a top secret full-time landscape photographer in singapore.

    guess not so common! thanks.
