Post What do you do with D70 underexposure?

Hi guys.

Seems that D70 underexposes a little....no big deal at all.

So, I generally shoot on P mode, without flash with the exposure value set at +1.0

Just want to know what else do fellow D70 users do to counter this issue.

thanks for your comments!

the +1.0 risk over exposing for some subjects
might be better to use the customed curve
do a search on this one if you like

Though I'm not a D70 user, the same thing has been repeated over and over again.

Ok, here goes: The metering is accurate; it does not under meter. However, the camera protects the image by exposing for highlights, thus you get the so-called underexposure when using matrix metering (3DCMM on D70).

What to do? Simple do one of the below:
  • Ignore on camera and adjust in PS (especially true for RAW)
  • In the camera, add +0.3 to 0.5 eV
  • Load (and activate) Custom Curve
  • Use other metering modes

Watcher is right,

For me, I'll just use photoshop to adjust the level, curve to my liking. Kudo to Nikon for protecting the highlights so that the image can be stretch, pull, twist and whatever you call it.
